Updated menu prices are visible in the photos. This place is similar to Won Kok in SF, though the dumplings are slightly smaller. Service tends to be slow, and the separate line for dim sum can be quite long. I bought two containers of dim sum for $20 and tried the ye wonton, which tasted quite Americanized.

I had wonton soup, BBQ ribs, fried shrimp, sweet and sour chicken, chicken chow mein, beef, and combination fried rice for $48. There was plenty of food for two people, with lots left over to take home.

I recently visited Won Kok in Chinatown, and the food was excellent. The dim sum menu is basic but includes steamed shrimp dumplings and pork siu mai, which were very enjoyable. While the eggplant with garlic sauce was nearly perfect, a bit more eggplant would have been better. The ginger chicken was another standout dish. Though the service can be slow and the wait can be long, the quality of the food makes up for these issues. The sticky floors are a drawback, but more frequent cleaning could address this. Overall, Won Kok offers good value for quality Chinese food in Chinatown.

The dim sum here is very affordable and of high quality. A lot of food is offered for a good price. In downtown LA, the same items with the same taste often cost double. It’s better to avoid the fried dishes and opt for authentic Chinese options like the eggplant dish or half chicken with ginger, paired with rice. These dishes are quite enjoyable. The Chinese eggplant is cooked well, though the dish could use a bit more eggplant. The restaurant could improve by keeping the floors cleaner, as sticky floors are not appealing.
